The "BLUE PEARL" Ice Festival has been organized for the 23rd year since 2000 to protect Khuvsgul Lake and develop winter tourism.
Diplomatic representatives in Mongolia and tourists from Russia participate in the festival every year. Tourists come mainly from China, Korea, Japan, and Germany.
In 2022, a total of 11,253 foreign and domestic tourists took part in the festival. During the Ice Festival, an ice town is built to pay tribute to Khaan Ikh Saridag and Khatan Dalai Eej.
According to the program, about 20 competitions are organized, including ice knuckle-bone shooting contests, ice skate races, racing horse, tug-of-war, skating competitions, ice hockey, multi-ethnic folk art performances, national costume fashion shows, fireworks, and shaman shows.
